- Indicate what assessment/evaluation traits you selected and why (in other words, what's your rationale as a critic of these stories?)
- Story – This is a digital story so story should be the most important.
- Content Understanding – If the person is taking a stance or educating, I want to know that they know what they’re talking about.
- Originality, Voice, Creativity – I am interested in how these stories use creativity to help our generation stay engaged.
- The extent to which these traits are successfully present and utilized in the given stories
- Story – The story was probably this one’s most important aspect. It described a situation where the student wanted to use glue but it had been put off limits. He figures out a way to use glue anyway but gets into a situation.
- Content Understanding – The content was here but a bit hidden. From further reading, this was supposed to teach students about the key elements of a narrative story.
- Originality, Voice, Creativity – This was also very strong in this video. It was very original with the funny story. You could hear the author’s voice and how he was trying to keep the audience’s attention. It was creative with the little pictures he drew. They were simple but they got the point across.
- What these traits fail to capture about the selected story (that is, what other characteristics of the story are noteworthy, and why?)
- This story was interesting. It was very simple hand drawings but it kept my attention. I really liked the humor in it. At the end when he said what his mom had to do (I don’t want to spoil it for you.) I laughed. I sure hope this is a fictional story!
- Based upon your trait evaluation, what modifications and changes to this digital story might improve aspects of narrative, production, media usage, and/or audience engagement?
- This could have been stronger with the elements of a narrative story. It just seemed like a story to me. However, this could be a good thing since an over the top lesson type story might turn students off. He probably did this story and then explained the different points in a class lecture. It could be very effective for that because it was good at keeping our attention.
