Week 1 of this course has been interesting so far. I have enjoyed watching some digital stories and getting involved in a subject that I didn't even know existed. I didn't realize that it was so large either until I dove in and started doing some research. The textbook reading was interesting because I liked what it said about literacy changing over the years. It used to be simply something that we learn in school but now it's a tool that we have to have in order to understand our world. I think it will be more interesting to learn about this as the semester continues, especially because my 5 year old is learning how to read right now. It's amazing to watch him be able to learn things without my help now.
I still do not enjoy the format of the course. I feel like it's much harder to connect to my classmates when we're all writing on different blogs. I would be much more likely to look over more of their work if all of the daily creates were in one thread, the digital story critiques in another, etc. But that's water under the bridge now.
I'm looking forward to a productive semester!
